Position Title: PROJECT COST CONTROLLER

The Project Cost Controller plays a critical role in monitoring, analyzing, and reporting project costs to ensure financial efficiency and alignment with budgetary goals. This position involves developing cost control systems, forecasting project expenses, analyzing variances, and providing actionable insights to support decision-making and project performance.
1. Cost Management and Budgeting:
a. Develop and implement cost control systems and processes aligned with project goals.
b. Monitor project budgets and provide real-time tracking of expenditures.
c. Prepare, review, and distribute accurate cost performance reports, forecasts, and analyses.
2. Project Financial Planning:
a. Collaborate with project managers and stakeholders to establish cost baselines.
b. Support project planning by providing cost estimates and cash flow forecasts.
c. Identify and address budget risks, proposing cost-saving measures when needed.
3. Variance Analysis and Reporting:
a. Conduct detailed variance analyses, comparing actual costs to budgeted figures.
b. Highlight discrepancies, trends, and risks to stakeholders with actionable recommendations.
c. Prepare monthly and ad-hoc financial reports for management review.
4. Compliance and Risk Management:
a. Ensure compliance with internal financial policies, procedures, and external regulations.
b. Evaluate and mitigate financial risks associated with project execution.
c. Maintain detailed documentation for audits and reviews.
5. Stakeholder Collaboration:
a. Work closely with procurement, engineering, and operations teams to ensure cost alignment.
b. Provide financial support to project teams, ensuring informed decision-making.
c. Act as a liaison between project teams and senior management regarding cost matters.
6. Process Improvement and Development:
a. Continuously assess and enhance cost control tools and methodologies.
b. Implement best practices in project financial management to improve efficiency.
c. Train project teams on cost control procedures and tools to ensure consistency.
This role requires an analytical mindset and great attention to detail. You will need to manage complex data, anticipate financial risks, and propose practical and effective solutions. We are looking for a proactive candidate with strong problem-solving skills and a true team spirit and strong proficiency in Excel, which is mandatory for this role..

Qualifications and Experience:
- A valid South African work visa is required.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in project cost control or financial analysis roles.
- Advanced Excel proficiency is mandatory.
- Proven ability to manage budgets, forecast costs, and mitigate financial risks effectively.
